Rajasthan: Mercury levels seared Rajasthan with the maximum temperature settling six to seven notches above normal in most parts of the state. Alwar was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 45.8 degrees Celsius. Gujarat: The ongoing spell of the heatwave is likely to intensify with mercury levels crossing 40 degrees Celsius in the coming weeks. The Met department said the heatwave conditions are likely to stay in Ahmedabad, Amreli, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Kutch, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot and Surendranagar and there is no relief in sight for at least a week. Uttarakhand: The state meteorological department of Uttarakhand has issued a red alert for severe heatwave conditions in several districts. The IMD has anticipated a sharp rise in the temperature, much higher than normal in hilly districts. Haryana: Searing heat has swept places like Ambala, Narnaul, Hisar and Gurugram as the mercury level settled over 42 degrees Celsius. Telangana: A scorching heatwave swept across Telangana with temperatures soaring over 44 degrees Celsius at many places in the state.
