Heavy rain resulted in extensive damage in Mudigere taluk. In the last 24 hours, Padadoor received 20 inches of rainfall, Balegadde—22 inches and Hanthooru—21 inches. All the rivers and rivulets in the taluk are overflowing.
Water had entered into Uggehalli Colony following the increase in water-level in Hemavathi river. As a result, the colony residents stayed back in their relatives’ homes on the outskirts of the village. MLA M P Kumaraswamy visited the spot on Tuesday.
The Ramakkana Halla is overflowing with Billuru-Devaramane area receiving copious rainfall. A bridge constructed across Ramakkana Halla at Balegadde has partially collapsed. As a result, the residents of Moolarahalli, Devaramane, Guthi are facing the threat of losing connectivity.
Marooned
Ramakkana Halla has marooned a bridge at Seegadimoole Colony. As a result, the residents are cut off from the mainland. Even the transformer at Kimmane Estate is inundated. Power supply to Billuru, Pattadooru, Guthi and Moolarahalli has also been affected.
The wall of a house belonging to Narayana Gowda collapsed at Gowdalli on Monday night. The coffee drying yard belonging to D L Ashok too has collapsed at Balegadde.
Water from Hemavathi river has entered paddy fields in Hanthooru. All the paddy seedlings and ginger crops grown on the banks of the river have been inundated.
