Pejawar Mutt seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami has said he will step down as the pontiff of the Pejawar Mutt if the charge that he has children is proved.

In a press release, the seer challenged the people, who are levelling charges against him, to prove the charges.

“There is no truth behind these allegations and all the allegations against me are aimed at defaming me. Some close associates of late Shiroor seer have accused me of having a daughter by name Padma living in Tamil Nadu,” he said.

The seer claimed that the charges against him were not new, they were levelled earlier too before he ascended the Paryaya Peeta in 2016. “Even then, I had asked the people, who made the allegations, to prove the charges made. But no one had come forward to prove the accusations. I am sure that people in the country will not believe these allegations,” the seer said.

Referring to the allegation that he has started a propaganda to defame the late Shiroor seer, he said, “I was only answering the questions by the media persons. Hence, I was compelled to disclose the fact that late seer had violated all the norms of monastic life and was no different from a worldly man.”

The Pejawar seer said that he has no role in former Palimaru Mutt seer Raghuvallabha Theertha, Shiroor Mutt seer Manojna Theertha and Subramanya Mutt seer Vidyabhushana in abandoning their respective Mutts. "Also, the allegations that I had offered Rs 5 lakh to former Palimaru Mutt seer Raguvallabha Theertha is far from the truth," he claimed in the press release adding that he is ready to face any enquiry.
