Bengaluru Tech Summit 2018, which got off at Bengaluru Palace Grounds on Thursday witnessed the display of a rich blend of emerging technologies such as Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, and 3D Printing among others.

A large number of startups, universities, government departments, and corporates have displayed their technology prowess at the three-day tech summit.

The 21st edition of the tech summit, organised by the Karnataka Government, has attracted a wide spectrum of IT, and Biotech companies. Some of them are supported by central, and state governments, angel investors, and corporates.

Startups focussed on agri-tech and biotech were also seen showcasing their technology and products. One such agri-tech startup named Foodprint uses blockchain to trace the origin of the agri-yield and AI/machine learning to provide weather and climate forecasts.

A biotech startup, Shanmukha, founded in 2012 under the guidance of a professor from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, displayed a compact and portable pathology lab which uses Artificial Intelligence to fasten the process of pathological tests with accurate results.

The research and experimental development company, Biomoneta, claims that the commercially available air purifiers only clean the air of particulate matter and other pollutants but not of superbugs and germs. "Our patent-pending technology Z-box traps and kills billions of microbes and thus is not to be taken as a regular air purifier," said Arindam Ghatak, Co-founder, and Head, Biological Sciences.

While 3D printing has applications across several platforms like manufacturing, medical, infrastructure segments among others, there were startups showcasing 3D printed gifts too. 3D printed organs, pieces from manufacturing, infrastructure and construction were also on display by startups Next Big Innovation Labs and Fracktals.

JK Nanosolutions, a nanotech startup established in 2016, funded under the Elevate 100, a Karnataka government initiative focuses on treating dirty water and making it reusable again. "Our cost-effective and quick water treating solutions are used by BMTC for cleaning buses and ISKCON," said the SCG Kiruba Daniel, CTO and Co-founder of the company.

There were many startups from Europe and other parts of the world showcasing their products and solutions at the Tech Summit.
