BJP slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday for expressing doubt over the strike on terror camps in Pakistan by India Air Force.
BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvergiya slammed the Chief Minister’s comments as “shameful” and accused her of doubting the armed forces.
“It is shameful that a chief minister of our country is doubting the success of our armed forces when the entire country has unequivocally expressed support for our forces,” said Vijayvergiya. He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a party meeting in Kolkata.
BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said that if a Pakistani politician raised such a question it would not have been much of an issue.
“If the comments were made by a Pakistani politician it would be rather obvious. But it is a matter of shame and outrage that an Indian political leader and that too a chief minister. We condemn such comments,” said Ghosh.
The development comes a day after the chief minister asked whether the air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan resulted in any casualties at all. She also demanded that armed forces be given an opportunity to tell the truth.
“From day one I am hearing especially on national television that 300-350 persons have died in the air strike. We want to know how many people actually died. Did anyone die at all? Where were the bombs dropped? Were the bombs dropped at the right place,” said Banerjee.
