There were expectations that Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) would win some seats, however, they scored a duck.

Raj’s son Amit lost the elections from Mahim.

VBA has fielded 200 candidates and MNS 125 seats.

The biggest upset was to Hitendra Thakur’s Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, who had fielded eight candidates and had three in the outgoing Assembly.

In Palghar district, Thakur, a six-time MLA, lost from Vasai while his son Kshitij Thakur, a three-term MLA from Nalasopara faced defeat - both from BJP candidates - Sneha Dube and Rajan Naik.

It may be mentioned on the eve of polls, the Thakurs have claimed that BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde was distributing money.

The Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party which is the highest in the list with 237 candidates, could not open an account.

Yuvraj Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati, the descendent of legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and iconic social reformer Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, who floated the Parivartan Mahashakti front, failed to make an impact.

The Maharashtra Swarajya Party, of which Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati is the founder-chief, and his key key allies Bacchu Kadu, the founder of Prahar Janshakti Party has given 38 candidates.

Kadu lost from Daryapur.

The Rashtriya Samaj Paksha founded by Dhangar leader Mahadev Jankar has put up 93 candidates after breaking away from BJP. However, it could win only one seat - Manikrao Gutte from Gangakhed.

Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party founder Ravi Rana, who is part of BJP-led Maha Yuti, won the Badnera seat for the fourth time.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi ally Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav retained its two seats - Abu Asim Azmi and Rais Shaikh from Mankhurd Shivajinagar and Bhiwandi East, respectively.

BJP ally Jan Surajya Shakti won two seats - Dr Vinay Kore from Shahuwadi and Ashokrao Mane of Hatkanangle.

The Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM - which was no in alliance with any side - was leading one seat in Malegaon Central, when reports last came in.

The CPI(M) and PWP and Rajarshi Shahu Vikas Aghadi won one seat each.
