From the 1951 figure it rose to 46.7 years in 1957 elections and then to 49.4 years in 1962.
Only once, the Lok Sabha was younger than the 1951 figure, when the average age touched 46.4 during the 1998 Lok Sabha.
But the next one in 1999 saw a sharp rise in average age to 55.5 years. In 2009, the average age was 53.03 years.
