SKM committed to ensuring peace, security in Sikkim: CM Tamang
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Thursday said that the ruling SKM was committed to ensuring peace and security in the state after forming the government.

The SKM is seeking a second successive term in power under Tamang's leadership and has put up candidates on all 32 assembly seats in the elections held on April 19.
Tamang thanked all senior civil and police officials of the state administration for the successful conduct of the polls.
The Sikkim chief minister also lauded 4.64 lakh voters for showing great enthusiasm to participate in the election process, with 83.5 per cent of them exercising their franchise this time.

In the outgoing Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA), there were three women MLAs - Farwanti Tamang from Melli, Rajkumari Thapa from Rangang Yanggang and Sunita Gajmer from Zoom- Salghari (SC).
China deploys J-20 stealth fighters near Indian border close to Sikkim
Amidst the ongoing confrontation in eastern Ladakh, China has deployed its most-advanced J-20 stealth fighters at Shigatse, an air base close to Sikkim, compelling the Indian security establishment to keep a close watch.
Six J-20 fighters under protective covers along with eight J-10 fighters and one KJ-500 airborne early warning and control aircraft are being seen in a satellite image, released by All Source Analysis, a commercial firm that deals with geospatial intelligence.
Close battle between ruling SKM and Sikkim Democratic Front
Sikkim is likely to be a close battle between the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) as results for 32 seats will be declared.
Counting is expected to begin at 6am today
Also in fray are nominees of BJP, Congress and Citizen Action Party-Sikkim (CAP-S) as counting will be held at six locations in as many districts amid tight security arrangements
Preparations made for counting votes for nine seats in Gangtok district, seven in Namchi, five in Pakyong, four each in Soreng and Gyalshing and three in Mangan

Ex-CM Pawan Kumar Chamling not to set foot in assembly after four decades
Not only did Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) lose 31 of the 32 assembly seats it contested in the polls, but even the 73-year-old SDF founder Pawan Kumar Chamling could not win either of the two seats, Namcheybung and Poklok-Kamrang, he fought, a result few could have predicted.
