There's no denying the fact that Aamir Khan is one of the biggest and most bankable stars in the Hindi film industry. The popular hero enjoys a strong fan following due to his impressive body of work, bindass nature, and versatility as a performer. While almost everyone is aware of his contribution to Bollywood, not many know that he was offered the lead role in Kollywood director Shankar's magnum opus 2.0. The film was a 'spiritual successor' to Rajinikanth's Enthiran and revolved around the journey of the superhero-like character Chitti. Things, however, did not work out as the 3 Idiots actor turned down the offer.
While speaking to journalist Komal Nahta, in 2018, Aamir had revealed that he decided against taking up the film as he could not visualise anyone but 'Superstar' in the role. Shankar ultimately roped in Rajinikanth to reprise his role from Enthiran while Akshay Kumar was signed on to play the antagonist Pakshi Rajan, The sci-fi thriller hit the screens on November 29, 2018 and emerged as a big hit in the Hindi market. It also made an impact in Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states.

Coming to the present, Aamir will next be seen in the eagerly-awaited movie Lal Singh Chaddha. The comedy-drama is an adaptation of the popular Hollywood movie Forrest Gump and revolves around the adventures of a dim-witted man. It stars Kareena Kapoor Khan as the leading lady, which has piqued the curiosity of the fans. The movie is slated to hit the screens later this year.
Rajinikanth, on the other hand, is set to resume work on the Siva-directed rural drama Annaatthe. The film reportedly has an emotional storyline with commercial elements. It stars Khushbu, Meena and 'Thalaivi' Nayanthara as the leading ladies. The biggie is likely to release in November.
