This Pongal would be sweet for Rajinikanth fans across the globe - at least that is what the trailer of the Tamil superstar's latest film 'Petta' tells.

'Petta', produced by Sun Pictures owned by the powerful Maran brothers, will hit theatres on January 10 - five days before the three-day long Pongal festivities begin. With Rajinikanth's movies - Kabali and Kaala - not doing well at the box-office since they did not have the necessary ingredients that define a Rajinikanth film, Petta has aroused immense interest among his fans.

And the trailer does not disappoint Rajinikanth's true-blue fans - the 2-minute trailer that went online at around 10.30 am on Friday, gives a sneak peak into what the film could be - an action-packed Rajinikanth movie with masala, punch dialogues and the quintessential Rajini style.

The movie, directed by Karthik Subburaj, casts Simran, Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sasikumar among others. With the old Rajinikanth, sans his philosophy which was witnessed in Kabali and Kaala thanks to their director Pa Ranjith, set to be back with 'Petta', the movie will set the screens on fire.
