‘Thalaivar’ Rajinikanth was released from Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Thursday night after undergoing a heart surgery. The actor had been hospitalised earlier in the week with severe stomach pain, later diagnosed as a swollen aorta.
Following his discharge, Rajinikanth took to X to provide a statement about his health and thanked everyone who wished him a speedy recovery.
Deccan Herald has learnt that the actor is recovering well and plans to resume work soon. Though doctors have recommended four weeks of rest, the star may shorten that period and begin filming for his movie Coolie from October 15th in Chennai.
“Following his hospitalisation, there were concerns about the progress of Coolie, but Rajinikanth believes he must complete his work commitment without delay. With 70 per cent of the movie already filmed, the final 30 per cent will be finished soon,” a source said.
"2025 marks the grand celebration of Rajinikanth's 50-year journey in the entertainment industry, and he's making every effort to make it unforgettable by releasing two films, Coolie and Jailer 2. Both projects are progressing rapidly, and Rajini is fully committed to ensuring this milestone year benefits not just his fans but also the producers, distributors, and everyone involved in the film industry," added the source.
On the work front, Rajinikanth is preparing for the upcoming release of his next film, Vettaiyan, directed by T J Gnanavel and produced by Lyca Productions.
The film boasts an impressive cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Dushara Vijayan, and is set to hit theaters on October 10.
