The saheb and his biwi return with sharper minds and longer bouts of lust. The two continue to bond over mutual hate, yet share a passion for, ahem, getting laid.

Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill make this royal re-run a good watch with their scheming ways and uninhibited sex, but the new gangster in the stable doesn’t quite fit in the scheme of things.

Sanjay Dutt sticks out like a sore thumb, rummaging through the sophisticated layers of treachery and debauchery, built so carefully by the couple. Keeping him company is courtesan Chitrangda Singh who seems even more out of place in this once-fruitful franchise.

When Tigmanshu Dhulia first let loose his Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster in 2011, it was a riot. The fading royals let out several impressive battle cries, and returned in 2013 in pursuit of more power. Sheirgill and Gill elevated the instalments with their feudal backbone, and met their match in gangsters with healthy spines (a delightful Randeep Hooda and Irrfan Khan).

Enter Dutt and the Tigmanshu cookie crumbles.

"He's the Baba," announces the track, as the man saunters in like a lonely bear. A prince who plays the dangerous Russian roulette in London, Dutt doesn't look a bit the blue blood he is supposed to be. The angry, stiff gangster doesn’t invest much in facial muscles even when he woos nautch girl Chitrangda.

Much of Dutt's mess is cleared by Jimmy Sheirgill. And that's the dividends Tigmanshu reaps for remaining invested in a bankable actor. As the jail-returned Aditya Pratap Singh, Sheirgill infuses some venom into the venture. Mahie Gill plays along as the lush, cunning queen with a good nose for easy prey and sex.

At curtains, the backstabbing continues. And there is another volume on the horizon. Wish the saheb and biwi a better gangsta next time!
