Raipur, DHNS: Pasting posters on government property proved costly for the Aam Aadmi Party, as the police have registered cases against two of its candidates, while seven publicity vehicles of the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) were seized after a complaint was registered in the village of Dhurva in Abhanpur Assembly constituency.
It was found that the loudspeaker and publicity materials were used without permission from the local administration. All seven vehicles were involved in electioneering for the party.
As per information received, the Civil Lines police have registered a case against AAP candidates Yogendra Sen and Munna Singh Bisen under Section 3 of the Property Defacement Act.
A complaint was lodged with the Raipur Municipal Corporation, zone 3.
Sen is the Raipur North Assembly seat candidate, while Munna Singh stands in the Raipur South seat. Both have put up posters in Khamardih, Shankar Nagar, Lodhipara square and Avanti Vihar colony main road on properties owned by the municipal corporation.
Sen claimed the posters and publicity materials were installed before the Model Code of Conduct was enforced.
SHO, Civil Lines, Yadumani Sidar said the case against the two nominees was registered after a complaint was filed by municipal corporation.
A flying squad was sent to Dhurva after a complaint about the vehicles were received. It was found that some of the vehicles seized had loudspeakers, publicity materials and utensils for cooking food.
All the vehicles have been seized under Motor Vehicle Act and handed over to the Gobara Navapara police station in-charge for further action.
