Forest personnel quickly captured the reptiles, police said.

The incident occurred around 1 am near the Mondigutta forest check post when the driver, allegedly speeding and driving negligently, crashed into cement pillars along NH-44, causing the lorry to overturn.

The vehicle was carrying eight crocodiles, a white tiger, and other wild animals. Fortunately, all animals were rescued, a senior police official confirmed.

Bannerghatta Biological Park officials explained that two lorries were transporting the animals from the Patna zoo.

“This incident involved the vehicle transporting gharials and a jungle cat. Veterinary Officer Dr Anand, along with animal keeper Harischandra, is accompanying them. An alternate vehicle has been arranged, and the journey has resumed with assistance from the local forest department. The vehicle is expected to reach Bengaluru around midnight,” an official said.
