Former Kerala MLA P C George stirred up another controversy after making disparaging comments about the Malayalam film actress, who survived sexual assault in Kochi, in February 2017.
George, who was a member of the state legislative assembly (MLA) for over 30 years, said that the actress had only benefitted since the incident.
According to him, the woman who “was now being referred to as survivor” only gained from the “alleged sexual assault”, as she got more films after the incident.
“If the sexual assault had happened as she alleged, she could have suffered damage in her personal life,” George said at a press conference in Kottayam district. Even after he was called out for making such an insulting statement, he maintained his stance.
Previously, too, George commented in favour of actor Dileep, who is accused in the criminal case filed by the actress, regarding sexual assault. The actor was accused of conspiring to get the actress abducted and sexually assaulted to settle personal scores. The case is in the trial stage.
The former MLA’s remark against the actress came when the case, which is in the trial stage, had several crucial developments, including the one where the actress sought a change of trial court.
George, who often invited flak for such remarks, was recently arrested, in connection with an allegation of rape.
