Ayodhya Verdict highlights: With the decades-old battle coming to a close, Supreme Court sets the ball rolling for a new India In a historic judgement, Supreme Court has given the disputed land to Hindus and a 5-acre alternative land to Muslim parties. Section 144 has been imposed in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of country including Mumbai, where it will be in place till 11 am tomorrow. Delhi Police has beefed up security across the national capital and asked its top officials to identify sensitive areas in the city for the deployment of additional force. Uttar Pradesh Police has adopted a four-pronged strategy to maintain peace in the communally-sensitive state in view of the Supreme Court judgment on the Ayodhya land dispute, a top police officer said on Saturday.

Police is checking hate and rumour mongers on social networking sites and has launched an extensive public outreach to build confidence of every section of society, he said. Around 80 cases have been registered in past 10 days against people using social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook to spread wrong information with an aim to trigger communal riots in the state, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) P V Ramasastry told PTI.

Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda welcomedthe Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya land dispute case. In a video message, the JD(S) supremo said, "It is a balancing decision, which I welcome."

"Only my feeling is the poor people who built the Babri Masjid about 300 to 400 years back and the people who are fighting now you cannot blame our minority friends. What happened in the past, so that is a big issue. So I don't want to go to the past," he said.

Reacting to Supreme Court's Ayodhya verdict, controversial former Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia, who is among the faces behind the Ram Mandir construction movement started in the mid 80s, said that "the dream of Hindus to build the temple has been fulfilled.''

The saffron leader, who was ousted from the VHP and floated his own organisation-Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad- said that a grand temple should now be constructed on the basis of the model he had built back in 1989 and which he had produced in the 'Dharm Sansad' held at Prayag in Allahabad, now called Prayagraj.

Hence I do not know whether Muslims will be compensated with five acres land in Ayodhya or elsewhere in the country.
