Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee leaves CBI Kolkata office after over 9 hours of interrogation. Banerjee was served a summon by the agency on Friday, that asked him to appear before the agency. The leader had to leave his ongoing political outreach programme midway to return to Kolkata. He had said that he will resume his outreach programme on 22 May. The Calcutta High Court had permitted agencies to interrogate him in connection with a probe concerning school jobs scam.

Banerjee has been called for questioning in the Kuntal Ghosh letter case. He had earlier wanted exemption from investigation in the case from the Calcutta HC, but was denied the request. The HC order, given by Justice Amrita Sinha, said regarding Banerjee's application, "The applicants do not appear to be bothered by the investigation per se. It is only where direction has been passed to investigate their involvement, that the applicants oppose the same".
Zelenskyy is going to Hiroshima after having secured the US' support to give Ukraine access to advanced fighter jets in their war against Russia.

The Reserve Bank of India(RBI) on Friday announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation adding that the currency will continue to be a legal tender till September 30, 2023.
The journey of the Rs 2,000 note was short-lived as it came into beingin 2016 after demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes and now, withina few months, will be phased out of circulation.

Prime Minister NarendraModion Saturday held bilateral talks with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida, focusing on ways to synergise efforts under G-7 and G-20 presidencies to deal with various global challenges.
The talks took place on the sidelines of the summit of the Group of Seven advanced economies in Hiroshima. While India is presently holding the presidency of the G20 grouping, Japan is the chair of G7.
