The principal and two teachers were arrested after a hidden camera was recovered from the girls' toilet of a school in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district, about 300 km from here, on Thursday.
According to police sources here, the camera was found during a raid by the police after a video of the toilet went viral on social networking sites.
Police sources said that several parents, whose children studied at the girls-only school in the town, approached them after watching the video footage of the toilet.
Some incensed parents created a ruckus in the school and had an altercation with the school teachers and members of the management.
Sources said that the school management was aware of the hidden camera but had allegedly kept it under wraps until the video footage reached the local media.
Police said that the two teachers taken into custody had installed the hidden camera in the girls' toilet.
Tension prevails
''We have launched an investigation into the matter...more arrests are likely in this connection,'' said a senior district police official in Maharajganj.
Sources said that the owner of the English medium school was a resident of Nagaland.
The incident triggered tension in the area, police said adding that security personnel in strength had been deployed in and around the school and other places in the town as a precautionary measure.
