Deadline for completion of expansion works of Mangalore Airport is March 2021, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri informed Rajya Sabha, said on Wednesday.
Replying to K C Ramamurthy's question, the minister said that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had taken up the work of parallel taxi track - II and expansion of aerobridges at Mangalore airport in Karnataka at an estimated cost of about Rs 98 crore and Rs 95 crore, respectively.
At present, the physical progress of the work of construction of parallel taxi track - II is about 88% and that of expansion of aerobridges is about 65%, Puri said.
However, the airport has been handed over to Public Private Partnership Operator on October 31, 2020.
The momentum of the work was slowed down due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and incessant rains. The projected date of completion for the project is March 2021, he said.
