Veteran farmers' activist Kishore Tiwari on Sunday reiterated his demand of removing Amit Shah from the post of BJP president and awarding the same to Nitin Gadkari.
This demand comes in the wake of the party's electoral defeat in the Hindi heartland states.
Tiwari, the chairman of Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavlamban Mission, in a statement, said: "It would be difficult for the party to come back to power in 2019 election and the sacrifices of partymen would be wasted if the BJP lost in the forthcoming polls. There is a visible resentment among the people due to the failure of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh."
In an open letter to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat Last week, Tiwari criticized the arrogance and dictatorial style of functioning of the present BJP leadership and stated that it is because of this the party lost the polls.
Tiwari also raised questions over the failure of demonetization followed by the hasty imposition of the GST.
