Five people, including four senior citizens, were killed and two others injured in a major fire that broke out in a high-rise residential building at Tilak Nagar in Chembur eastern suburbs of Mumbai on Thursday evening.
At least 10 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot.
The fire broke out on the 12th floor of the Sangam Society, a 15-storey building. Some people are feared trapped.
In the past few weeks, around 20 people have died in multiple incidents of fire in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
This fire comes on the eve of the anniversary of the December 29 inferno in the Kamala Mills compound of Mumbai, in which 14 people were killed.
