A one and half year old toddler girl fell inside a borewell in a village in Gujarat's Amreli area on Friday, prompting rescue operations, news agency ANI said.
The child is reportedly trapped at the depth of 45-50 feet.
A report in the The Indian Express quoted Himkar Singh, superintendent of police (SP) of Amreli that the incident took place when some children were playing. “The incident happened when a few children were playing on an agricultural farm and one of them somehow fell into the borewell there."
A rescue team was close to reaching the child inside the borewell, the report added.
In related news, media reports have said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state to prepare a law to prevent borewell deaths.
