Ranchi Police issues clarification on drone video, says will take action against those spreading misleading message

'Legal action will be taken against anti-social elements who post misleading messages on social media with the intention of disrupting public order,' they said.

"It is a standard procedure (SOP) to conduct a survey using a drone camera to maintain law and order. The house owner was instructed to remove the construction material found during the drone survey," it added.

'Ranchi police ready to deal with anti-social elements and rioters. In view of Ram Navami, a mock drill was organised' yesterday, Ranchi Police tweeted.

Jharkhand's capital city Ranchi has had a history of violence on Ram Navmi, and cops say they are 'ready' for today.

'Ranchi Police's message to the rioters is that they will be dealt with strictly.'

'Actively present around religious places, squares and intersections to maintain law and order on the occasion of the festival,' tweets Patna Police.

Last year, Bihar witnessed riots around Sasaram on March 30, wherein there were clashes and stones were pelted at local mosque. A madrasa in Bihar Sharif was vandalised and library set on fire. Over 77 people were arrested and 12 FIRs loged.

Ranchi Police on high alert for Ram Navami

Ranchi police officials are on high alert today after drone surveillance in the Main Road, Hindpiri and Daily Market areas of the city revealed that stones were kept on the roofs of eight houses located in Hindpiri and Daily Market area. Police have sent notices to all eight house owners.

Kotwali DySP said that the landlords have been asked to remove the stones from the roof as soon as possible. If there is any dispute during the procession, the person on whose roof the stones were found will be held accountable.
