The Kapoor family on Sunday bade an adieu to the Lord Ganesha of the famous RK Studio at Chembur.

The Kapoor brothers— Ranbir, Rishi and Rajiv— were present to bid farewell to RK Ganpati, as it is popularly known.

Actor Rishi Kapoor's son Ranbir also visited the studio and prayed before the elephant-headed Lord.

Last year, a fire gutted a major part of the iconic 70-year-old studio and the Kapoors have decided to sell it off.

Around 63-years ago, the legendary actor late Prithviraj Kapoor's son Raj Kapoor brought the Ganpati idol for the first time and since then it has been an unbroken tradition to celebrate Ganeshutsav at the RK Studio.

On Ganesh Chaturthi, during the aarti, former actor Vishwa Mehra, who is popularly called Mamaji by all, broke down.

He is a family friend of the Kapoors and he was present when Awara was shot here.

Though the family decided to sell off the RK Studio, the RK Ganesh festival will continue.

"When we shift to new location and office, we would celebrate Ganeshutsav there," said Ranbir Kapoor during the inaugural festivities.
