Molakalmuru, Chitradurga district: A 10-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of street dogs at Rampur village in Molakalmuru taluk of Chitradurga district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when Mithun, son of Channamallikarjun and a class 5 student of Arunodaya School, was returning home from a coaching centre. He was taking tuition classes for the entrance exam for residential schools.

On his way back home, three stray dogs attacked and bit him on his chest and head. A passerby drove the dogs away and rushed him to a primary healthcare centre in the village. The boy was shifted to Ballari district hospital, where he failed to respond to treatment and died. The Rampur police have registered a case.
