Kannada film actor Amulya joined the JD(S) on Tuesday along with her husband Jagadish and father-in-law G H Ramachandra, who quit the BJP for being denied a ticket from Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar).
Speaking to reporters in the city, Amulya said: “I have no idea of politics. I had not imagined that I would even start my political career at this juncture. By joining the JD(S), I am only performing my duties as a daughter-in-law.”
She said she would campaign for the JD(S) whenever necessary and would, however, largely restrict herself to her father-in-law’s constituency.
Amulya, who debuted as a child artist in the early 2000s, got married to Jagadish, an MBA graduate, in May 2017. She shot to fame through the film Cheluvina Chittara, in which she played the lead role. She has acted in over 20 films.
