National Service Scheme (NSS) of Field Marshal K M Cariappa College and Directorate of Field Publicity jointly organised an awareness rally on 'Ayushman Bharat' programme of the Central government, in Madikeri on Wednesday.
Hundreds of students took part in the jatha from the Field Marshal K M Cariappa college to ITI junction.
City Municipal Council President Kaveramma Somanna said that those eligible should utilise the Arogya Bhagya scheme under Ayushman Bharat programme. The programme intends to improve people's health.
District Health Department coordination officer Tejas Gowda said that 'Ayushman Bharat', the Central government programme has been implemented in the state from October 30. APL cardholders may avail medical treatment at a concession rate of 30% and BPL card holders may avail free medical treatment under the scheme.
About 50 crore people in the nation are expected to benefit from the programme.
