The Karnataka High Court on Friday passed an order directing the state to issue a paper publication on or before October 15 calling upon all NEET-qualified candidates seeking admission for AYUSH courses to either approach the Karnataka Examinations Authority before October 25.

A division bench headed by Justice A S Bopanna passed the order on a petition filed by Karnataka State Ayush Medical Colleges Federation and other individual colleges. The colleges had moved the court over large number of unfilled seats remaining in the colleges. The petitioners had informed the court thee 68 BAMS (Ayurveda) seats vacant under government quota in government and aided colleges and 549 seats in private colleges.

The bench said that if the seats remain vacant after exhausting NEET-qualified candidates, such students who have not appeared for NEET but are qualified to take up AYUSH course could be considered.
