Farmers from the district, who were staging a protest for the past 20 days, withdrew it on Saturday.
This follows a decision by sugar factory owners to settle dues of farmers who supplied sugarcane after December 31 (during the 2017-18 fiscal), at a rate of Rs 2,500 per tonne. The protests were mainly held in Mudhol.
The farmers said their decision follows an undetaking given to the district administration by the factory owners in this regard, Vishwanath Udagatti, leader of the Raitha Sangha in Mudhol, told DH.
