Bank officials who harass farmers for repayment of loans will be sent to jail, said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
He was addressing reporters at Chowdapur in Afzalpur taluk on Monday.
A bank official in Vijayapura has been sent to jail after the notice issued by him to a farmer for repayment of loan led to the latter’s suicide.
“Though the government has issued an official notification on loan waiver, bank officials are sleeping,” the chief minister said.
In Kalaburagi, the chief minister said he would revive his pet programme 'Grama Vastasvya' (village stay) soon, but this time, the visit to a village will be from morning to evening, but not a night stay at a house in a village.
Kumaraswamy announced that in the next eight to 10 days, he would come to Kalaburagi again and hold a meeting with all officers concerned from morning to evening.
