Toy Story, first made in 1995, looks at the world through the perspective of toys. Its 2019 version is out in June.

Disney movies have always appealed with their themes of friendship, love and magic. From cheering for Lion King and Mulan to tearing up while watching Inside Out, audiences are deeply involved in the reel lives of the characters.

As 2019 picks up pace, we bring to you a list of upcoming Disney movies to watch out for this year.

The Lion King

The Lion King
First on the list is The Lion King. This is a CGI-reimagining of the 1994 classic and is set to mark the 25th anniversary of the animated version. We have the likes of Beyonce, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Seth Rogen lending their voice for prominent characters. This film promises to be a treat for everyone who has watched the animated version. It will hit the screens in India on July 19.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel
This one is an adventure film that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she transforms into one of the universe’s heroes. When a war between two alien races reaches earth, Carol must do what she can to protect the planet. Brie Larson plays Carol, along with Samuel L Jackson and Gemma Chan in prominent roles. The film is set to release on March 8 in USA, and should come to India soon enough.

Toy Story
It’s time for Toy Story fans to rejoice, for the toys are back. This time Woody’s daughter Bonnie’s new toy Forky joins the gang. On a road trip, friends, old and new, come together to explore what the world means to a toy. Tom Hanks lends his voice to Woody and we have Keanu Reeves too. The film releases on June 21.

Aladdin
A live-retelling of the 1992 film of the same name, this is a thrilling adventure of a charming man on the streets and his romance with Jasmine, the beautiful daughter of the Sultan.

Dumbo

We have Will Smith as the witty Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine. The film is set to release on 24 May.

Dumbo
Tim Burton’s live-action adventure talks about a young elephant, the laughing stock of the circus because of his oversized ears. However, when it is discovered that he can fly, the circus picks up and Dumbo goes places. Soon, he discovers all the dark secrets beneath the shiny veneer of Dreamland. Release on March 29.

Artemis Fowl
This film is based on a series of Irish science fiction novels of the same name, written by Eoin Colfer. The protagonist is a genius descendant of Irish criminal masterminds who kidnaps a fairy for ransom. He plans to use that to fund the operation to look for his missing father. Ferdia Shaw plays the lead and Judi Dench stars in a prominent role. The film hits screens on August 9.
