Police said the incident occurred around 10 am when Manjamma, a resident of Chikkanahalli in Ramanagara, was walking along the road. Suddenly, a power line snapped, fell on her and she was electrocuted instantly, dying on the spot.

CCTV footage reveals that Manjamma was conversing with two women, likely acquaintances, when the power line sparked unexpectedly and snapped. Within moments, Manjamma collapsed.

Alert bystander

One of the women attempted to assist her, but another bystander quickly pulled her back to avoid further electrocution.

Passersby alerted the Tavarekere police, who responded promptly and arranged for the body to be sent for post-mortem. “We have registered a case against Bescom officials,” a senior officer informed DH. “Further probe is on.”
