Nine juveniles escaped from the Government Observation Home For Boys in Madiwala on Monday, barely six months after eight others gave authorities the slip.
Officials working at the observation home said the incident took place around 8.30 am when the nine boys went to take a shower. They broke open the window grills of the bathroom and escaped.
The caretakers grew suspicious when the boys did not return after a long time. As there was no response to repeated calls from outside, they broke open the doors, only to find the window grills broken.
The Madiwala Police searched the premises but did not find any clues. The boys had used an iron rod to break open the grill.
All the nine juveniles are aged between 15 and 17. Two are from Tumakuru, one is from Bengaluru rural district and the remaining six are from Bengaluru city.
On Monday (July 23), DH had carried a story on the pathetic conditions at the short-staffed observation home.
