Bengaluru: Ayyanna Reddy, the Hebbagodi police inspector, who was arrested for aiding rape suspect BJP MLA Munirathna in criminal conspiracies, had devised a plan to inject HIV-infected blood into former DCM R Ashoka, a top police source told DH.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing three cases against the RR Nagar MLA Munirathna, arrested Reddy on Thursday.
The source told DH that Munirathna had allegedly planned to inject HIV blood into R Ashoka in 2020 during his birthday party. Reddy was present at the spot when Munirathna held the discussion, according to the source.
“We have learnt that Reddy was the one who came up with an action plan for injecting the HIV-infected blood into his party mate. However, they later dropped the plan,” said the source.
Reddy has served over a decade in police stations falling under the RR Nagar constituency, which is represented by Munirathna, another source from the Criminal Investigation Department said.
Amidst the fresh developments, a purported video of Ashoka discussing with Union Minister of State V Somanna, on an attempt to inject HIV infection into him, has gone viral on social media. Somanna is heard asking Ashoka if he was telling the truth.
Reacting to Somanna, Ashoka says, “Yes, SIT is calling me to give a statement; there’s been a complaint. I am scolding them, but they are adamant that I give a statement."
“I didn’t sleep for three days. My family was suggesting that we leave everything and settle abroad. What should we do if something goes wrong? Murdering is also fine, but this will spoil the whole family,” Ashoka goes on to add.
DH couldn’t verify the video independently.
However, through a top police source, DH has learnt that the SIT has summoned a former DCM.
