A day after a private property owner damaged a TenderSURE footpath on Cunningham Road, police registered an FIR against the Shah Sultan complex on Sunday, following a complaint from the BBMP. The owner is yet to be traced.

On Saturday, residents had complained that the owner was trying to destroy the pedestrian path developed by the BBMP under the TenderSURE model. After DH raised the matter, a team of officials rushed to the spot to inspect the stretch and concluded that the property owner had indeed damaged the footpath.

On Sunday morning, BBMP executive engineer (Project Central) Basavaraj Kabade registered a complaint with the High Grounds police station who filed an FIR. The complaint copy and FIR available with this newspaper read, “The Shah Sultan complex owner and his workers have damaged the footpath while demolishing the RCC planters box in front of his property which was built by the BBMP.”

“We are lodging a police complaint and FIR against the property owner for causing damage to public property and making a loss...” it said.

“We got to know that the owner is in Dubai and the building is under renovation. Even the security personnel are clueless about the owner,” a police officer said.

DH tried to contact those in charge of the building but no one was available for comment.
