Gandhi Park, a protest venue located near Maurya Circle in the heart of the city, will be spruced up at a cost of Rs 1 crore, BBMP has said.
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Engineer (Projects) Lokesh M said the island has large swathes of dead space and the white topping of Seshadri Road has created some more space for developing the junction.
"Since there was dead space, the place is prone to becoming a garbage dumping spot. We had funds which were saved from the white-topping project and will spend it on giving a facelift to the junction,” he said.
Recently BBMP workers demolished the park’s compound wall, even as local residents remained unhappy over the redevelopment plan saying the park is in good condition.
