Citizen's group CAF releases souvenir

On completing a decade, Citizen Action Forum (CAF), a civic group in the city, has released a souvenir ‘Namma Nagara Namma Jeeva’ (Our city, our life) in the city on Saturday.

The group, which has relentlessly worked towards ensuring transparency and accountability in governance, celebrated its work at Century Club.

Delivering the key note address on the occasion, urban expert Ashwin Mahesh, said the definition of who is a better Indian has changed over the years.

“Earlier all those who used to work for the State or who used to appreciate its work used to be a good Indian, but there has been a transition from that phase. Now the one who actively participates in bringing transparency and accountability in governance becomes the defining factor of being a good Indian,” he said.

Mahesh also said that the the organisation should look at CAF 2.0 and rope in youngsters to keep the movement forward.

Some of the initiatives that Citizen Action Forum was involved in was maintaining the self-assessment of properties in Akrama-Sakrama scheme, ‘Vote Bangalore’ and many more.

Panel discussion

A panel discussion was also organised on water management where Sharachchandra Lele and S Vishwanath participated.

D S Rajashekar, president and Mahalakshmi Parthasarathy, secretary, Citizen Action Forum were also present at the ceremony.
