The Department of Primary and Secondary Education has suspended the deputy director of public instruction, Bengaluru North, on the directions of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
These directions were issued on Thursday as part of the Janatha Darshan, when the chief minister heard complaints of the aggrieved.
Abdul Wajid Kazi, a parent of a student seeking admissions under the RTE, made a complaint to Kumaraswamy that the DDPI had misused his powers when the Right to Education Act admission process was under way.
The chief minister also said that the DDPI did not mend his ways despite many warnings, necessitating his suspension. A departmental inquiry is pending.
Previously, another parent had accused the DDPI of not supporting the RTE quota students to get admission
in a private school at Kempapura.
The order, however, stated that even as the DDPI was suspended, he has been transferred to DDPI DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) Bidar,
where the post of a principal is vacant.
