According to forest officials, the deer lost its way and joined the grazing herbivores around Chikbidrikallu forest patch near Tumakuru Road. The forest patch is part of the Hessarghatta range.

The forest officials said that this is the first such incident on this side of the urban environment and was a sign that these parts too are being distributed like Bannerghatta National Park.
