Cab aggregator Ola has announced free rides to help people ailing with physically challenged to reach the polling stations and cast their vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the city.
As per the Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) programme, Ola has come up with the proposal to the District Election Officer that the cab aggregator will pick the Physically challenged people from their home to the polling station and drop them back free of cost.
Speaking to DH, N Manjunath Prasad, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner and also the district election officer (DEO) said, “the Ola cab has sent a proposal of giving free rides to the physically challenged people in the city. The coupon will be provided to the identified physically challenged voters, where they can call Ola cabs and take the ride to the polling booths free of cost on voting day.”
The Election commission will also provide 1,651 wheelchairs in all the polling booths along with ramp to facilitate the physically challenged people.
Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South Constituencies are going to polling on 18 April.
