HC likely to hear Nalapad's bail plea next week

Mohammed Haris Nalapad, the son of Congress MLA N A Haris, filed a petition in the high court on Friday, challenging the rejection of his bail application by the 62nd City and Civil and Sessions Court on Tuesday.

The is the second time he has moved the high court for bail. The first time was in March. The petition is likely to be heard next week.

Nalapad was arrested on February 19, two days after he and his friends allegedly assaulted Vidwath L, a fellow diner, at the Farzi Cafè in UB City, following an altercation.

The Central Crime Branch has charge-sheeted Nalapad. The initial FIR had invoked IPC Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 143 and 144 (unlawful assembly), 146 and 147 (rioting), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace). Two days after his arrest, Nalapad was booked for attempted murder (Section 307).
