The three-day National Horticultural Fair-2019 will begin on January 23 on the theme of ‘Horticulture for rural prosperity’ to turn farmers into entrepreneurs.
Farmers from Goa, Tamil Nadu, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Punjab and four other states are expected to attend the fair at the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Hesaraghatta.
IIHR director M R Dinesh said: “Today, farming can become an enterprise and a farmer can be an entrepreneur. Focusing on this, we are going to showcase the technologies developed by our institute.”
Agro-based industries and other organisations will set up more than 130 stalls to showcase horticulture-related products. A live demonstration of improved horticultural varieties and technologies, discussions between farmers and scientists on emerging challenges and solutions, the sale of seeds, planting materials and disease-resistant varieties will also be part of the fair.
