The state Health Department announced on Wednesday that five government hospitals in and around Bengaluru will reserve beds specifically for dengue treatment.
KC General, Jayanagar General and CV Raman General will each set aside 25 beds, while Yelahanka and KR Puram taluk hospitals will reserve 10 beds each for the management and treatment of moderate to severe dengue cases.
This initiative is in addition to a circular issued by the department's principal secretary, Harsh Gupta, on July 11, directing all taluk hospitals to reserve five beds and all district hospitals to earmark 10 beds for dengue cases.
As of July 17, the state has reported a total of 10,973 positive dengue cases, with 3,133 active cases and 535 hospitalisations since January 1.
Fourteen patients have been admitted to the ICU, including six in the past 24 hours. Official figures from the Health Department report eight deaths due to dengue.
