The Cyber Crime Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for harassing a woman by making a repeated phone call and sending messages.

The arrested suspect is Nayan Jai Kishan Thilwani, a garment factory worker and a resident of Khar in Mumbai.

The police said Thilwani was arrested following a complaint filed by a woman in February alleging that she knew Thilwani when she was working in Mumbai and later she moved to Bengaluru.

Some months ago, he sent a Facebook message and, she accepted it. After that, he started contacting her over the phone. She stopped responding to his call and blocked him. But he tried to contact her using several phone numbers and also threatened her family members asking them to tell her to receive his calls. The woman then complained to cybercrime police, who went to Mumbai and arrested him.

During interrogation he confessed that he wanted to be friend with the complainant and as she avoided him, he threatened her to answer his calls, the police said.
