The mud road near the Croma store in Panathur, Varthur, is undergoing some much-needed repair. Despite the obvious relief, residents are also wondering if the road will
be tarred.

“It has been in a bad condition for a long time,” Pushpalatha M, a local resident, said. “We know that tenders had been called a long time ago to build the road, but nothing actually happened on the ground.”

She said residents have a tough time navigating the road for the past year as the road turned slushy during the rain.

“Panathur residents witness several accidents here,” she said.

“Two-wheelers skid and riders fall down. A lot of apartments are coming up on the road, making it difficult to commute by the day. We wish to see the road asphalted.”

Several letters to the local corporator and the BBMP to repair the road went unanswered.

The road is a vital link to the IT hub in Mahadevapura like Marathahalli, Bellandur and ITPL.

A BBMP official said the repair work will be over in a few days. “It’s a mud road punctuated with potholes. The damage has happened due to many reasons. The road work is underway and we have filled it with more mud and expanded it a bit,” the official said, adding that the road can be used for commute in a few days.

The official, however, did not give information on asphalting the road.
