The National Safai Karmachari Commission (NSKC) is planning to reduce the stress on civic workers in the city by reducing the number of houses they have to clean every day.

Chairman of NSKC Jagadish Hiremani told BBMP officials at a meeting on Saturday to consider reducing the stress on civic workers.

The commission has suggested allotting one pourakarmika for every 500 house, as against the current 750 houses.

“This is a suggestion given even in the IPD Salappa report. Right now, one worker is allotted 750 houses and the amount of work will be reduced if the number of houses is reduced,” said Sarfaraz Khan, joint commissioner, health and solid waste management, BBMP.

When Jagadish asked BBMP officials why some civic workers are not being paid, Khan said it is being verified.
