It’s a sigh of relief to parents and children of the Chrysalis High School in Kadugodi limits in East Bengaluru, as the repair work of an approach road to the school, which was waterlogged a week ago, was taken up on Sunday.

A few days ago, the road leading to school was inundated with knee-deep rainwater making it difficult for the parents to take their children inside the school premises.

The school management had organised shuttle buses in a bid to help parents and kids. The parents dropped their wards up to a certain point after which the shuttle buses took them inside the school campus.

“The condition of the road has always been like this during rain. It is a two km mud road marked with plenty of potholes. The children always reached school late because of the traffic jam caused due to waterlogging,” said a parent of a child studying in the school.

Recollecting the situation of children when the road was waterlogged, he added: “Small children even fell in the water, dirtying their school uniforms. Now that the rain has stopped, the road seems better.”

Tinu Cherian, another parent, said: “There are two roads that are adding to the woes of parents and kids. One is the main road which is a state highway towards Hoskote that is currently being white-topped. However, the white-topping, which was started several months ago, is taking forever to complete. Another one is this approach road to the school from the main road.”

MLA of Mahadevapura zone, Arvind Limbavali had visited the school a few days ago after the waterlogging was brought to his notice. He had assured the school management to begin the repair work of the road soon.

“I have instructed our BBMP officials to find out the reason for the waterlogging and sort it out soon. They have begun their work,” he said.
