A poet and his wife celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday in an unusual manner: they honoured a string of achievers with what they call the JeevaPada (‘life-song’) award. Nagathihalli Ramesh and Shobha, the couple, had invited distinguished teachers, judges, spiritual leaders and social workers to the celebrations at the ancient Vasanta Vallabha temple in Konanakunte. Ashwini Angadi, founder of the Belaku school for people with disability, flautist Bapu Padmanabha, and singer Madikeri Mukesh were among those honoured. Bayala Kannadi, a CD with lyrics by Ramesh, music by Mandolin Prasad and arrangement by Kishan Murthy, was released. “I thought the best way to celebrate an occasion like this would be to show our gratitude to people who make our lives meaningful,” Ramesh told Metrolife.
