A 23-year-old software engineer was killed in a road accident during the early hours of Thursday. The victim has been identified as Daniel Bobby Kumar, a resident of Marathahalli. Kumar was employed at Dell, the police said.
According to the police, Kumar was returning home after work around 1.30 am when the accident occurred. Kumar, who was overspeeding, lost control of the two-wheeler near the Borewell Junction bus stop at HAL's Old Airport Road.
As he fell down, his head hit the edge of a footpath. He sustained head injuries as he was not wearing a helmet, said Anupam Agarwal, DCP (Traffic), East division. He had reportedly consumed alcohol, the police added.
Passersby rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The body was shifted to Bowring Hospital for postmortem. The traffic police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Meanwhile, Kumar's parents suspect foul play in their son's death. They told the police that their son had no reason to be at HAL or the Borewell Junction.
"Based on the parents' remarks, we have taken up an additional Section 174C (pertaining to unnatural death), and investigations are under way," DCP Agarwal said.
