The deceased — identified as Ratan Kumar, from Kadirayyanapalya — was riding his two-wheeler (KA 03 KG 6081) when he tried to overtake a BMTC bus (KA 57 F 5363) on the service road near the BDA complex at 11.24 am.

The rider's attempt to overtake the bus from the right side was thwarted by a stationary goods vehicle parked in the opposite lane. Although he applied sudden brakes to avoid a collision with the goods vehicle, he lost control of his two-wheeler and fell down, coming under the right rear wheel of the moving bus. He suffered severe injuries and died instantly.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) said the bus was being driven at a low speed when the accident occurred. It expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident and offered condolences to the family of the deceased.
